I hit the big one. Or at least the first big one? With our numerical system based in the power of 10, we seem to put added emphasis on those even numbered birthdays that end with zero. Thus, I am in a new decade of my life. I have a feeling my 30's are going to be very adventurous. :)
Mike made me a wonderful carrot cake, decorated and everything and made from scratch nonetheless. With the justification that he swapped out some of the ingredients for healthier alternatives and the fact that he added fruit (i.e. pineapple) and that another main ingredient was a vegetable (i.e. the carrots), we went ahead and had it for breakfast. Mind you, I was a little hesitant to be photographed on my birthday before I had showered, but it is all part of accepting the real me (isn't that mumbo jumbo something you are supposed to embrace in your 30's?).

Mike came home bearing gifts. He truly spoiled me bringing a beautiful bouquet of flowers as well as other gifts. I received a gift certificate to a day spa to do some of those things I've never done before (think massages, facials, and pedicures). He also got me some new garden tools, because HEY I like to garden! The other surprise was a pressure cooker. An adventure to say the least and one that I hope to post about soon. So you can see that going into my 30's I'm well on the way to continuing to do things I love and also try new things, perhaps a little out of my normal comfort zone.
